SoftBank, Dialpad Partner to Bring First Pure-Cloud Business Communications to Japan

Dialpad Continues Global Expansion With SoftBank Presiding Over the Death of the Desk Phone

SAN FRANCISCO, December 13, 2016Dialpad and SoftBank Corp. ("SoftBank") today announced an exclusive alliance to bring Dialpad's pure-cloud business communications solution to Japan, one of the world's largest economies and technology markets. SoftBank will offer Dialpad to its customers, enabling workers to junk their desk phones in favor of working from anywhere using any device. SoftBank, which is one of the largest G Suite resellers in the world, will be the exclusive provider of Dialpad for five years.

Daiki Orihara, Vice President, Service Platform Development Division at SoftBank, welcomed Dialpad's entry into the Japanese market. "We feel certain that Dialpad, a next-generation tool which has challenged established internal communications and legacy fixed-line phones with a new concept, will transform future voice communications," he said. "We will offer this new style of work, the ability to 'connect at any time, with anyone, on any device' to our corporate customers."

"In the rapidly-changing and ever-growing cloud market, the need for unified communications is especially high," said Kunihiro Fujinaga, Vice President, Enterprise Business Strategy Division at SoftBank. "We expect Dialpad to meet our customers' needs as it seamlessly works with G Suite, which is used by many of our customers. SoftBank will work to expand the sales of Dialpad in the future as one of the core cloud services."

As a pure-cloud solution, Dialpad does not require any on-premises servers, storage or hardwired phones. This frees customers and their IT teams from the burden of administering and managing traditional infrastructures that cost, rather than contribute to, business growth. Dialpad can also be deployed in minutes, enabling organizations of any size to immediately derive more value from their shift to the cloud by better connecting offices and anywhere workers. Through simply logging into the application interface, employees are immediately empowered to connect and collaborate in whatever format they prefer — voice, video, messaging or SMS — on any device, anywhere and at any time. In fact, approximately 85 percent of Dialpad users are completely free of their desk phones and have cut the cord on legacy technology.

"It's now clear that companies that remain tied to their old desk phones are falling further behind the competition every day," said Craig Walker, CEO of Dialpad. "As we continue our global expansion, we are extremely pleased to be working with SoftBank, which has had extraordinary success taking cloud solutions like G Suite to market. With close to 100 million smartphone contracts[1] in Japan, we are confident that Dialpad will become the standard business communications solution, empowering organizations and connecting workers across Japan."

"I think Dialpad will fundamentally change internal and external communications. Dialpad enables communications, anywhere, anytime on any device and will become a standard tool," said Nao Kitazawa, COO of MONEY DESIGN Co., Ltd, one of the first enterprise customers for Dialpad in Japan.

Kenji Tomooka, Operating Officer and CIO of the Information Systems Department at Fujitec Co., Ltd. added, "It has become more common to use cloud services rather than have the hardware. Dialpad seems most likely to accelerate migration from PBX to the cloud. I greatly look forward to it."

Dialpad is pioneering the new era of Work From Anywhere. Dialpad's pure-cloud business communications solution harnesses the power of any productivity suite, such as Google G Suite and Microsoft Office 365, to allow employees, customers and partners to do their jobs better, no matter where they go. The thousands of organizations relying on G Suite in Japan today will be able to take advantage of this new combination of solutions to build a more innovative and productive company, while eliminating the burdens and exorbitant costs of desk phones.
