Dialpad Named a 2016 Gartner Cool Vendor in Unified Communications Market, 2016

Leading Analyst Firm Selects the Most Innovative, Impactful and Intriguing Companies in the Unified Communications Market Report

SAN FRANCISCO - May 11, 2016 - Dialpad, a leader in Modern Business Communications, today announced it has been named a “Cool Vendor” in Gartner’s Cool Vendors in Unified Communications 2016 (May 3, 2016, Mike Fasciani, Daniel O'Connell, Steve Blood, Vivek Bhalla). Dialpad offers a new vision for business communications for companies that want to derive more value from their shift to the cloud by better connecting remote offices and mobile workers, making it easier for all employees to connect and collaborate, and getting rid of the nearly useless PBX. Dialpad is a pure-cloud solution that lets workers communicate by any channel – voice, messaging, chat, conferencing, video – anywhere, using their device of choice. The Gartner Cool Vendor Report for Unified Communications evaluates interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services in the Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) market., expected to reach $42.4 billion by 2019, According to Gartner, the unified communications market will grow from $40.9 billion in 2014 to $42.4 billion by 2019, fueled by demand for cloud-based services as organizations digitalize their business workflows.1

According to the report, “The Cool Vendors in unified communications for 2016 support stronger employee engagement by collectively addressing the topical demands for high-quality user experiences, cost optimization and enhanced security.”

The report also states, “There was a time, not long ago, when delivering high-quality and reliable voice and video were the primary goals of enterprise telecom planners. A few years back, the introduction of UCC and the emergence of bring your own device (BYOD) and work-from-anywhere concepts caused enterprise UCC planners and vendors to shift focus toward flexibility and accessibility to satisfy end-user needs to be mobile and connected at all times. This shift in focus led to compromises due to technical and operational challenges, resulting in lowered end-user expectations for quality in exchange for mobility convenience.

“In 2016, mobile enterprise architectures and designs are well-established within the enterprise's UCC solution set. The focus is now shifting back to high quality in order to enrich the end-user experience and allow UCC planners to have a higher degree of confidence in the performance of their deployment.”

Businesses in every industry are rapidly shifting to cloud applications and productivity suites, such as Google Apps for Work and Microsoft Office 365. The business communications industry has so far been unable to keep up with this rapid pace of change and the evolving needs of today’s more mobile workers. Dialpad, a Modern Business Communications (MBC) solution, meets the needs of all workers for businesses of any size. Dialpad replaces the PBX and point solutions with a global pure-cloud solution that lets employees connect with everyone and work from anywhere. Workers on the go can even easily move a single conversation from device to device -- desktop, laptop, smartphone, IP-based phone and back again. Dialpad has native integration with Google Apps for Work and Microsoft Office 365, making collaboration easier and enabling teams to connect, communicate, and work from anywhere. Unlike first-generation platforms, Dialpad is a completely open system that lets anyone inside or outside the company network reach a Dialpad user via text, group chat, or audio or video conferencing through a single business phone number, eliminating the need for special accounts.

“Workers today are fundamentally mobile, and their business conversations move across every medium, from voice through documents, text, events, audio conferencing and so on,” said Craig Walker, CEO of Dialpad. “We're extremely gratified to be recognized by Gartner as a Cool Vendor because we believe it acknowledges that we are targeting a significant industry painpoint that we feel other vendors are not able to address. Dialpad offers any business a truly elegant communications experience that is easy to use and simple to manage, and includes native integration with the tools workers are already using every day.”

The desk phone is in its death throes as the traditional SMB and enterprise “workplace” is steadily being replaced by an aggregation of geographically remote offices and mobile and home-based workers. This has made supporting voice communications with traditional PBX systems extremely expensive and complex, even as most workers no longer have any use for the functions and features they deliver. MBC enables any company to have a global, enterprise-grade communications infrastructure through a single pane of glass, allowing even non-technical users to add individual workers or entire new offices in a matter of minutes – anywhere in the world.

Every other major communications vendor, faced with falling adoption of hardware-based systems, has begun promising capabilities similar to Dialpad. These traditional vendors, however, are constrained by their antiquated business models and dependence on hardware and are unable to keep pace with the rapidly changing needs of today’s marketers, sales teams, service professionals, retailers, educational faculty and staff, and so many other modern workers.

Dialpad solutions include:

  • Dialpad: Voice, video, messaging (SMS, MMS, and group messaging) for in and out of network communications; Dialpad Analytics; and Dialpad UberConference by Dialpad, an enterprise-grade HD audio conferencing system with NO PINs, NO downloads, seamless screen sharing, and powerful call controls.

  • Integrations with Google Apps for Work, Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce, LinkedIn, Twitter and more.

  • Devices: Dialpad Chrome Browser App, Dialpad Native Mac client, Dialpad Native Windows client, and Dialpad for iOS, Android, ObiHai and IP Phones.
