Dialpad and Sacramento Kings Unveil The Huddle Lab to Bridge Technological Literacy and Access Gap
The Huddle Lab presented to College Track and provided in partnership by Dell
SAN FRANCISCO — October 10, 2022 — Today, the Sacramento Kings and Dialpad, Inc. – the industry leader in AI-powered communication and collaboration – held a grand opening of The Huddle Lab, a technology room for afterschool programs, at College Track, a comprehensive college completion program that equips students confronting systemic barriers to earn a bachelor’s degree. The space includes computers, software and TVs provided in partnership by Dell, to connect globally through Dialpad’s cloud communications platform.
“Dialpad is honored to give back to the Sacramento community by increasing technological access to underserved students,” said Craig Walker, CEO and Founder of Dialpad. “Our founding mantra since we started Dialpad eleven years ago was to do the right thing. Together with Sacramento Kings and Dell, our team is delighted to provide the technology and tools to College Track’s students to accelerate their learning, discover their passions and explore their future career interests.”
The Huddle Lab, which will benefit 60-80 students per week, is a dedicated afterschool program space designed to encourage and empower the next generation of young entrepreneurs. College Track was identified as the recipient during the Kings Team Up for Change Week of Action in January 2022 designed to further deepen connections with the Sacramento community by hosting micro-events for youth that spur dynamic conversations and promote healing with an emphasis on mentorship, career exploration, leadership training and advancing pathways to substantial economic mobility for future generations.
“We’re grateful to Dialpad and Sacramento Kings for their commitment to our scholars with the Huddle Lab,” said Luisana Victorica, Site Director of College Track Sacramento. “This technology space will close the digital divide and democratize potential — and will have a meaningful impact on our students’ academic and career goals as they pursue a bachelor’s degree and a successful career.”
The Huddle Lab is a part of a multi-year jersey patch partnership between Dialpad and Sacramento Kings, which is a component of the Dialpad for Good program. Dialpad for Good provides support to small businesses – including startups and underrepresented founders – to help them succeed, and has championed over 750 businesses through its Dialpad for Startups, Tech for Black Founders, Diversity in Tech and Nonprofit programs. Together with the Sacramento Kings, Dialpad is focused on bridging the digital divide and co-developing meaningful community impact programming that empowers the next generation with technology, learning and innovation. In addition to the College Track Huddle Lab, Dialpad and Sacramento Kings plan to donate two additional Huddle Labs to non-profits over the next two years.
